BOSSIER CITY, LA – The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League today announced that Ray Delia has resigned his position as the team’s President & General Manager. Delia will remain with the organization to assist team ownership in an advisory capacity.
“I’m proud of what our team has been able to accomplish over the last two seasons and am appreciative of the opportunity to contribute to that success,” said Delia. “It was my intent when Tommy & Leslie Scott purchased the team to stay on for a year or so to help guide the organization through some necessary administrative and financial changes that would naturally occur with a change in ownership, and then to explore other career options. That time has come.”
Delia, who was named the Central Hockey League’s “Executive of the Year” for his work with the Mudbugs during the 2008-09 season, managed the organization through another winning season that included a seventh consecutive playoff appearance and ended just one win short of the CHL’s Ray Miron President’s Cup Finals.
Delia was hired in August of 2008 to resume his role as Mudbugs President & General Manager, a post he initially served in during the first three years of the franchise from 1997-2000. After holding the position for the past two seasons, he will be leaving the Mudbugs in pursuit of new career opportunities.
“Ray has been such an integral part of the administration of the Mudbugs organization, it will be tough to see him go,” said Tommy Scott, who became co-owner of the team with his wife, Leslie, in July 2009. “His presence was a major factor in our decision to buy the team and we look forward to keeping him involved as an advisor going forward. I have the utmost respect for all he has given and continues to give to this organization and wish him well in his other pursuits.”
