Community Involvement The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are committed to community involvement throughout the Ark-La-Tex. Mudbugs players, staff members, and mascot Clawed are regularly involved with community events throughout Shreveport-Bossier and the surrounding areas. The Mudbugs often partner with schools, hospitals, and many local organizations and businesses to be an active part of our community. Fifth graders from Curtis Elementary School in Bossier City won the chance to ride to the CenturyTel Center in the 'Bugs Express for a private viewing of a Mudbugs practice as a part of the Mudbugs' 2008 "Front of the Line" season ticket program.
The entire Mudbugs roster of players and much of the team's staff helped deliver activity kits to Bossier Parish kindergartners on Jan. 28 in conjunction with BlueCross BlueShield of Louisiana as part of the Louisiana 2 Step program.
Mudbugs players and staff members and their families attended the 2008 Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure" in Shreveport.
Mudbugs forward Neil Poulsen and Lil' Bugger stopped by Kerr Elementary School on February 21 to read to students. The Mudbugs joined Sister Sharon of the Christus Schumpert Health System on Friday, February 15th as the hospital announced its plans for the Cara Center for abused and neglected children. The Mudbugs teamed up with PODS and the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana on a three-game food drive during November of 2007. The entire team spent an afternoon at the Shreveport Shriner's Hospital for Children on Halloween Day 2007.
